Dear Sir:
The data from Brazil provided by Sichieri, indicating that the percentage of energy from fat in the diet does not account for a major increase in obesity, are appreciated. As Sichieri suggests, unless we address excessive energy intake from all sources and the decline of physical activity, we stand little hope of dealing with the global obesity explosion. The focus on fat alone has been an unfortunate distraction.
