简 介:Prof.Yan received a master’s degree in exercise physiology from University of Illinois in 1991, and a PhD in Physiology and Cell Biology from University of Texas Health Science Center in 1995. From 1995 to 1999, he engaged in his post-doctoral research about molecular cardiology. Currently, he serves as an assistant professor of medicine in Duke University Medical Center. About muscle plasticity, the Yan laboratory has three interrelated projects: 1) The p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) in exercise-induced mitochondrial biogenesis in skeletal muscle. 2) NO-dependent protection against muscle wasting. 3) Skeletal muscle mitochondrial dysfunction and steatosis in type 2 diabetes mellitus。Prof.Yan has had more than 30 peer-reviewed publications. In addition, he is the member of The American Physiological Society, American Heart Association and National Institute of Health Study Section for R3 Grants.
