左志义教授简介：

Dr. Zhiyi Zuo is the Robert M. Epstein Professor and Professor of Anesthesiology, Neuroscience and Neurosurgery, University of Virginia, USA. He received his M.D. and M.S. degrees from Sun Yat-sen University, China, and his Ph.D. Degree in Pharmacology and Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge, UK. He then became a faculty member of the University of Virginia, USA. His laboratory was one of the first to identify anesthetic preconditioning-induced neuroprotection and has contributed significantly to the knowledge of regulation of glutamate transporters, proteins involved in a broad range of functions. Thus far, he has 80 peer-reviewed papers published in English journals including New England Journal of Medicine, Am. J. Physiol, J Biol Chem, Molecular Pharmacology, Anesthesiology, Neuroscience, Anesthesia and Analgesia, Brain Research, Journal of Neurosurgery, et al. Also, he is a reviewer for 16 English journals including Molecular Pharmacology and Stroke, an Associate Editor for Anesthesiology and a regular member of SAT Study Section, NIH. Based on his outstanding achievements, Dr. Zuo was granted the prestigious Presidential Scholar Award from the American Society of Anesthesiologists in 2005 and the Frontiers in Anesthesia Research Award from the International Anesthesia in 2007.

左志义博士，美国弗吉尼亚大学医学院麻醉学、神经科学、神经外科学教授。1983年中山医学院临床医学本科毕业，获学士学位，1988年中山医科大学麻醉学硕士研究生毕业，获麻醉学硕士学位，1994年英国剑桥大学博士毕业，获药理学和生物化学博士学位，随后进入美国弗吉尼亚大学医学院工作，2000年被聘为麻醉学系助理教授，2003年晋升为麻醉学和神经科学副教授，2007年晋升为麻醉学、神经科学和神经外科学教授。左教授所带领的实验室是最早发现麻醉剂预处理具有神经保护作用的实验室之一，同时对谷氨酸转运体功能调节的认识作出了突出的贡献，谷氨酸转运体具有广泛的生物功能。左教授曾在New England Journal of Medicine, Am. J. Physiol, J Biol Chem, Molecular Pharmacology, Anesthesiology, Neuroscience, Anesthesia and Analgesia, Brain Research, Journal of Neurosurgery等重要期刊发表学术论文共80 篇，同时也是包括Molecular Pharmacology and Stroke 在内的16种英文杂志的审稿人以及Anesthesiology的副主编。基于左教授的杰出成就，于2005年和2007年， 美国麻醉医师学会和国际麻醉学会分别颁予他总统学者奖和麻醉学研究前沿奖两项殊荣。
