Oct. 5, 2007 -- The list of toys and other products recalled due to lead has
lengthened again.
More than half a million toys and other products made in China?joined
the lead recall list yesterday.
Lead
poisoning can permanently damage children's brains, but it typically
doesn't happen overnight.
No injuries have been reported in connection with the latest recalls. But
people should stop using the recalled products immediately and take them away
from kids, states the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Latest Lead Recalls
Here is the list of the toys and other products recalled yesterday because
of?lead:

Certain wooden toys from KB Toys. Because of?lead paint, KB is
recalling about 10,000 of its Wooden Pull-Along Alphabet & Math Blocks
Wagons, Wooden Pull-Along Learning Blocks Wagons, 10-in-1 Activity Learning
Carts, and Flip-Flop Alphabet Blocks. Return them to any KB Toys store for a
full refund.

Certain Baby Einstein color blocks from Kids II Inc. Because
of?lead paint, this recall includes about 35,000 products. Specifically,
the recall involves the blue block included with the Baby Einstein Discover
& Play Color Blocks (Model 30726 and Model 30881). The blocks are made of
soft textures and come in different colors. Only date codes of GE7, GF7, and
GG7 are included in this recall. The model number and date code are printed on
the labels affixed to the green-colored block. Call Kids II toll-free at (866)
203-6788 between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday to receive a
free replacement of the affected block.

Eveready "Pirates of the Caribbean" toy flashlights.
Eveready Battery Co. is recalling about 79,000 of its "Pirates of the
Caribbean" medallion squeeze lights, which are gold-colored. The toy
flashlight is attached to a leather strap and metal clasp. The recall is due to
lead paint on the surface of the leather strap. Contact Eveready for a voucher
for another Energizer-brand product. Call Eveready at (800) 925-0628 between 9
a.m. and 6 p.m. Central time Monday through Friday.

Frankenstein tumblers sold at Dollar General stores. This recall
includes about 63,000 plastic tumblers that are green and shaped like
Frankenstein's head. Surface paint on the center of the eyes of some of the
cups can contain high levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint
standard. Return them to the Dollar General store where they were purchased for
a refund or replacement.

Children's Toy Decorating Sets sold at Toys "R" Us. The
recall of about 15,000 children's decorating sets manufactured by CKI Toys of
Hong Kong is due to lead paint on the back of the mirror in the "Totally
Me! Funky Room Décor Sets." Return them to a Toys "R" Us store for
store credit.

Certain key chains sold at Dollar General stores. This recall
includes about 192,000 key chains with a coiled cord and a metal charm with one
of the following engraved words: "wisdom", "truth",
"believe", "love", "hope", or "dream." The key
chains were sold on a cardboard tab with floral designs and the words
"Metal Keyring" and "$1" on the front. Return them to the store
where they were purchased for a refund or replacement product.

Certain aluminum water bottles sold at Sports Authority stores. This
recall includes about 11,200 Alpine Design Aluminum Water Bottles due to lead
paint on the water bottles. Return them to a Sports Authority store for a full
refund.

Certain bookmarks and journals from Antioch Publishing. This recall
includes about 150,000 bookmarks and journals from Antioch Publishing's
Signature Collection. The character-themed bookmarks and journals include the
